Inspiring Futures – Space Science

At this Inspiring Futures program on April 19, we will hear how ULA is harnessing the potential of space for humankind to break barriers, broaden horizons and realize possibilities not yet imagined. Like Girl Scouts, ULA staff are dreamers about the future! Our guests will discuss the various careers at ULA as well as the esteemed internship program.

Inspiring Futures – State Parks!

Many Girl Scouts have participated and enjoyed Girl Scouts love State Parks weekend! It is a great experience to visit our amazing state parks and jump right in and enjoy the recreational opportunities there and the beauty of the parks.

Join us at this Inspiring Futures with Colorado Parks & Wildlife School Programs Coordinator, Erin Kendall to learn about her education, career and why she loves working for CPW! Erin will also enlighten Girl Scouts about other job opportunities within Colorado Parks & Wildlife and see a short interactive example of what an environmental educator might do! There will be plenty of time for questions about our parks and the breath of opportunities.

Inspiring Futures – ER Doctor

What does being an emergency room physician really entail? We’ll find out what Life in the ER is like from Dr. Katie Bakes, an emergency physician at Denver Health and a Professor of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Colorado, School of Medicine.

Emergency room physicians experience great stress in their jobs, but along the way, they’re saving lives, learning the field and preparing for a lifetime of making a real impact on people’s health. As an emergency room physician, Dr. Bakes works on the front lines, stabilizing patients before directing them to specialists who can take over their care.

Join us as we learn about emergency medicine, why ER Doctors do this job, do some diagnosis of medical conditions and hear about Dr. Bakes’ time in New York City helping with the COVID-19 outbreak.

Early Reader to Teens Author on Inspiring Futures

One of Rachele Alpine’s first jobs was at a library, but it didn’t last long, because all she did was hide in the third-floor stacks and read. Now she’s a little more careful about when and where she indulges her reading habit. Rachele is a high school English teacher by day, a wife and mother by night, and a writer during any time she can find in between. She’s written eleven books for early readers to teens, and her newest series, THE INVINCIBLE GIRLS CLUB, celebrates girl power and the ability for anyone to make a difference in the world.

Rachele joined the Girl Scouts when she was in kindergarten and participated into her teens. She now considers herself a life-long member and loves talking books with troops! She lives in Cleveland, Ohio with her two young boys, husband, and the cutest dog in the world (no, really…she is!). Visit her at

Miss Rodeo Colorado on Inspiring Futures

Have you ever been to a rodeo? Have you ever seen a horse and wanted to learn more? Or, have you ever wanted to be a princess? Join Miss Rodeo Colorado 2022 Ashley Baller as she takes you behind the scenes of the life of a rodeo queen. Learn about the role of Miss Rodeo Colorado, what it takes to become a state titleholder and how you can get involved with horses or agriculture!

As the previous Manager of Multilingual Resources and Communication within the international department of the world’s largest equine breed registry, the American Quarter Horse Association, Ashley will teach you about horses and opportunities to get involved with them. We will chat about rodeo, horse care, riding disciplines, tack and more! Ashley can’t wait to meet you and hopes you join her for an evening of fun learning about the life of a rodeo queen, horses and different ways you can learn more or become involved. Inspiring Futures – Animal Welfare

Many animal-loving students think that their only career choice is to become a veterinarian, but there are many other possibilities!

On April 12 Girl Scouts will learn about the various jobs available at animal shelters and beyond, including educators, investigators, kennel technicians and groomers, to name a few. This event teaches students about some animal-related jobs and the qualifications necessary for each of them.

Inspiring Futures – Animation – STEM

It’s time to get creative! In this talk, Kathryn will share how animation is made for film, commercials, video games, and more. She has worked in the animation industry for over a decade, and loves to explore the many different styles and stories that can come through in animations.

She will take you through the creation of an animated logo, unpacking the layers and pieces that make up a single video. We will also explore how objects move and change shape, to create the worlds and characters we see on the screen every day. You will have direct input into a short animation that we interactively create together.

Inspiring Futures – Actress – Life Skills

Success as an actor depends on many elements: training, acting ability, marketing, online presence, presentation, perspective, and belief in yourself. You are a unique being who learns in a certain way and thrives in a certain environment. All of that is considered in Lana’s approach to coaching. She recognizes that every actor is different and takes the time to learn how to best serve them.

Lana is also a working actor, so she has her finger on the pulse of the industry. She’s ready to share with Girl Scouts, what it’s like to be an actress that lives in New York City! She will talk about her work on WandaVision, Dynasty, Bull and The Resident and the recently wrapped Tyler Perry film due to air at the end of this year on Netflix.

Get ready to flex your acting skills too on March 26 as she’ll show us some exercises she works on with her students. “Dreams really do come true if you work hard and believe in yourself.”

Inspiring Futures – Improv – Life Skills

Join us on March 3 as we explore the art of storytelling! In this interactive workshop, we will engage in fun improv warmup games, tell stories, and gain perspective through learning about each other’s experiences. We will also create some fictional tales brought to life by our imaginations and organic presence!

Our presenter, Nicholle has been active within theater and performing arts for more than 20 years. As a social worker, teaching artist, improvisor, and actress, Nicholle engages people and communities in social justice, art, and intentional healing processes. As a teaching artist, Nicholle works with middle school students to create art that explores identity and oppression. She performs regularly as an improviser and immersive theater actress all over Denver! Recently, Nicholle taught creative writing in Denver Correctional Facilities with the DU Prison Arts Initiative, leading to a live show entitled “Alive Inside” that explored the healing and connective benefits of art.
