Aug. 9: Space Science – United Launch Alliance

United Launch Alliance (ULA) is the nation’s most experienced space launch provider with more than 145 consecutive launches and a record of 100% mission success. ULA rockets have launched technologies that protect our country, enable GPS navigation and weather monitoring, connect families across the globe, and expand our understanding of our solar system.
At this Inspiring Futures program, we will hear how ULA is harnessing the potential of space for humankind to break barriers, broaden horizons and realize possibilities not yet imagined. Like Girl Scouts, ULA staff are dreamers about the future! Our guests will discuss the various careers at ULA as well as the esteemed internship program.

New Recruiters Skills Patch

The progressive Girl Scout Recruiter Patch Program is for Girl Scouts of all levels who love sharing Girl Scouting with new people! This patch includes four components to earn as you build your public speaking skills, host events to influence new members to join, and support other recruiters.

Be an Influencer by honing your public speaking skills and raising awareness.
A Star Recruiter takes actions and spreads the word about local recruitment activities.
Become an Expert Recruiter by hosting an event or helping launch a new troop.
A Captain takes what they have learned to train and support other recruiters!

To earn each rocker, complete the required activity and at least one optional activity. View the flyer for more details of rocker requirements and how to submit the form to have your patch and rockers sent to you. Completion of activities must be verified by an adult.

GSCO National Delegates

Did you know that GSCO selects members to represent our council on the national level? Every three years, Girl Scouts of the USA holds the National Council Session and gathers delegates from all councils to review the past three years, elect the National Board and vote on important changes for the Girl Scout Movement. The next National Council Session will be in 2023. The selection process for the next group of delegates is now open.

Join the Global Action Team

The Global Action Team is a group of committed Girl Scout volunteers that meets monthly and supports global initiatives within the council and we are looking for new members to join! As a member of the GAT, you will help support global activities throughout the year including educating other volunteers and girls about global action days and the Global Action Award, supporting World Thinking Day events throughout the state, being an ambassador to WAGGGS and the World Centers, and promoting travel opportunities.
The GAT will be hosting a retreat for new and returning members on Aug. 20 at Hamp Hut. If you are interested in joining this committee, email rebecca.lipman@gscolorado.org.

GSCO Summer Swim Party at Pirates Cove
July 28, 6 – 8 p.m.
Join Girl Scouts of Colorado at Pirates Cove for our annual swim party. All Girl Scouts, friends, and family are invited. Bring a friend and show them some of the fun that Girl Scouts has to offer. This is also a great opportunity for a troop kick-off party before the school year starts!

Statewide Bridging at Royal Gorge Bridge
Aug. 20, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
All levels
Join your Girl Scout sisters as we celebrate accomplishments, reflect on the fun times, and bridge to the next level of Girl Scouts at the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park. We’ll have a Girl Scout bridging ceremony and symbolize this moment by walking together as a sisterhood across the highest suspension bridge in the United States! Then we’ll enjoy a celebration on the other side at Juniper Junction.

Girl Scout Night at the Colorado Rapids Soccer Club
Aug. 20, 7 p.m.
Join the Colorado Rapids for Girl Scout Night at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park! All Girl Scouts, family, and friends are invited. The first 50 Girl Scouts to purchase tickets will receive a limited-edition Colorado Rapids patch at the game and the first 50 people to purchase tickets will receive access to Warm-Up Watchers on the field prior to the game. Stick around after the match for a special post-game fireworks show! Tickets are $30, $34 or $39 depending on where you’d like to sit for the match.

Girl Scout Day at Rocky Mountain Vibes + Field Sleepover
Aug. 26, 5:30 p.m. – overnight (optional)
Baseball, s’mores, fireworks, AND an optional campout on the field?! Is there a better way to close out summer?
Your $20 ticket includes:

Entrance to the game
Hot dog, chips, and a soda voucher
Parking
Post-game fireworks

Ticket to participate in the post-game campout on the field, includes an evening movie

Girl Scout Day at the Colorado Rockies
Sept. 25
All Levels
Join us for Girl Scout Day with the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, September 26. All Girl Scouts, friends, and family are invited to cheer on the Rockies as they take on the San Diego Padres. The game starts at 1:10 p.m. There won’t be a parade this year. Ticket prices are $25 for lower-level seating in sections 145 and 146. GSCO will receive a small donation from the Rockies for tickets purchased.

Girl Scouts Love State Parks Weekend

Mark your calendars for this year’s Girl Scouts Love State Parks event! Much more information to come later this summer, keep an eye on the event calendar! In the meantime, check out the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Patch program to get a head start on earning patch rings for each 5 parks you visit while working through the state parks passport book.
