Troop 675 hosts successful Power Up sleepover – Stand Strong Scouts

Submitted by Madison Enney

Troop 675 had a Power Up sleepover to help prevent bullying in Colorado. We had 35 Juniors attend (3rd, 4th and 5th graders). We did numerous activities to have the girls participate in all of the problems of bullying. We did a script to show how different ways of bullying can affect different people, especially stereotyping. We gave ourselves personalities so those are great stereotyping but what other people put on you is not. We had so much fun at this anti-bullying sleepover we didn’t want it to end. I learned a lot at this event because it took planning and organization and it also taught me how to handle 6th grade bullying.

National Girl Scout Cookie Sleepover – Jan. 12th!

We are getting excited about the upcoming National Girl Scout Cookie Sleepover! How about you?!? If you haven’t heard about this event yet, it is going to be held on Saturday, Jan. 12th, at 8 p.m./MST. This event can be done anywhere where there’s an Internet connection. One girl or even a group of girls can participate in this event together (it doesn’t have to be a troop activity). All girls who participate will join girls from across the country who are having a sleepover/pajama party in their area. For more information and ideas to get ready from your sleepover/pajama party, check out Little Brownie Bakers website. And if we haven’t convinced you yet, check out the video below on this first-ever event that’s sure to be a hit. We hope to see you there! (We will also be live Facebooking throughout the event on Girl Scouts of Colorado’s Facebook page, so be sure to join the conversation!)

Troop 4288 sleeps at the fire station

The Daisy, Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts of Troop 4288 in the Northern and Northeastern region held a slumber party at the fire station. Thirteen girls particpated. They had a gift exchange (as well as a gift collection for Toys for Tots), played games, had an art show for the Brownies to earn their painting patch, watched movies and really got to know one another. This was our first outing together as a troop, and the girls as well as the troop leaders, had a blast! As a community member, I had access to the center for which I made a small donation, and the food was a gift from the troop leaders as our holiday party! We just formed our troop this fall, so we are looking for inexpensive to free things to do…and this was just the thing to kick off our new troop!
