Girl Scouting at home: “Dragons Love Tacos 2 The Sequel” craft

This easy craft is perfect for younger Girl Scouts (or younger siblings) and is a great follow-up to reading “Dragons Love Tacos 2 The Sequel” by Adam Rubin.

Spicy tacos can make dragons breathe fire!  To make a dragon to go with your tacos, you will need:

  • Card stock/Cardboard/Any type of tube
  • Crayons/Paint/Markers
  • Red, yellow, orange, or white paper
  • Tape/Glue
  • Scissors

Get your tube or cut a rectangle of paper or cardboard to roll into a tube. Color your tube anyway you would like to make a fun dragon, decorate with spots or make it plain – your choice.

Cut strips of paper that you have either colored or use colored paper. You can also use tissue paper, if you have any. Glue colored strips all along one end of the tube to be the fire.

Draw and cut circles out of white for the eyes and a rectangle tab to attach on the back so the eyes will stand up. Glue the tabs on the eyes, then when dried, glue or tape eyes on.

You now have a dragon friend! You can make your dragon your own by skipping the fire and adding teeth. Try pom poms for eyes, add scales or nostrils. Experiment and make a few.

We want to hear how your girl is using her Girl Scout skills by taking initiative, caring for the community, and Girl Scouting at home. She can send in her story here.
