Listen now – Meet an Expert: Senator Kerry Donovan

Girl Scouts of Colorado thanks Colorado State Senator Kerry Donovan for participating in our “Meet an Expert” webinar series on December 3, 2020. More than 50 Girl Scouts from across Colorado joined the session to learn all about Senator Donovan’s background, experience, and what it is like being a Colorado state senator. Senator Donovan represents Colorado’s 5th Senate district which is based in the mountain towns of the Rockies, including Chaffee, Delta, Eagle, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Lake, and Pitkin Counties. You can now watch and listen to this webinar on the GSCO YouTube channel.

Senator Donovan walked girls through the process of a bill becoming a law and spoke to the girls about some of the work she has done that she is most proud of. She also spoke about her time growing up in Colorado and working as a restaurant chef and rancher. We also got to meet the Senator’s dog, Gary, though he was asleep for most of the program! After a short presentation, Senator Donovan answered a ton of questions from the girls who participated live. Girls asked awesome questions and we all learned a lot about how state government works.

Participating in this webinar helps meet requirements for the new Democracy badges for all Girl Scout levels. Girl Scouts who participated in the live session or listen to the recording can purchase their “Meet an Expert” patch online: https://www.girlscoutsofcolorado.org/en/about-girl-scouts/gsco-shop.html
