Daisy’s Circle Supporter Spotlight: Nicole Eubanks

Tell us about your connection to Girl Scouts.

I am a third generation Girl Scout. My grandmother, mom, and I have all participated as Girl Scout volunteers. I have two daughters that are now Girl Scouts and this makes them fourth generation Girl Scouts. I served in various roles in the Girl Scout organization from troop support volunteer, service unit team member, troop leader, and also was on staff at GSCO at one time.

What is the most valuable thing that Girl Scouts gives girls today?

Girl Scouts gives girls the empowerment to build them into strong women as they graduate high school. It offers opportunities for service to others and to improve our communities. The girls receive education in various topics from STEM to the outdoors.

Why did you join Daisy’s Circle?

I believe it is important for all girls to have any opportunity to participate in the Girl Scout program. Girls have an opportunity to participate not only in troop activities, but also in camps and Destination programs. These programs define the women they become. All girls deserve to be courageous and strong!

Daisy’s Circle Supporter Spotlight: Karrie Adamson

Tell us about your connection to Girl Scouts.

I started as a leader when my oldest was in second grade. I had those girls until they graduated high school. When my girls were in school, I was the service unit manager for five years. I loved what the Girl Scout Cookie Program gave the girls, so I got heavily involved and loved watching the girls achieve goals and gain confidence. In 1994, I got talked into volunteering at day camp and found my place! I worked at Genesee the next year as a counselor and then moved to the urban team as the business manager and then took over as the director where I stayed until the program was eliminated. During the school year, I worked at a few different outreach programs until I found my passion for the Focus on Ability program where I have been for the last 20 years.

What is the most valuable thing that Girl Scouts gives girls today?

The ability to have self confidence! I love that it gives them a place where they can try new things and explore with safe boundaries and amazing mentors, My girls still attribute many of the leadership skills they have and self confidence to Girl Scouts.

Why did you join Daisy’s Circle?

I joined because as a leader and camp director, I saw many girls benefit from scholarships that allowed them the experience when money was not available for them. I would like to help girls have that experience.

What is the best thing about monthly giving?

It produces an ongoing, reliable source of income.

Tell us about your connection to Girl Scouts.

I was a Girl Scout from second grade through my senior year in high school, served as a Junior leader in the early 1970’s in Bowling Green, Ohio, then as a Brownie leader in the last 1980’s in Colorado Springs. I have recently been elected to join the Board of Directors of Girl Scouts Colorado.

What is the most valuable thing that Girl Scouts gives girls today?

Opportunities to grow their self-confidence that contributes to educational and personal success
Opportunities to serve as girl leaders that develop into women leaders

Why did you join Daisy’s Circle?

Monthly giving is an easy way to contribute to a cause that I love and allows me to provide more support than I would be able to do with a one-time gift.

What is the best thing about monthly giving?

It is easier to budget for small monthly gifts than one big one.

Tell us about your connection to Girl Scouts.

My connection with Girl Scouts began in Fairfield, Al in the early 80’s. I often tell the story of how I was riding my bike around the local park and stumbled upon a Girl Scout event. I had three other siblings and my mom did not work. I knew that after I stopped to speak with the ladies at the table, I would not be able to join this organization because of financial reasons. Also, we didn’t have a car, so that meant no transportation to meetings and events. Being who I am, I filled out the form anyway :). About two weeks later, two ladies showed up at my door, inviting me to my first Girl Scout meeting at a local church. I was so happy to belong and blessed with the opportunity to “make new friends.”

What is the most valuable thing that Girl Scouts gives girls today?

Girl Scouts build LEADERSHIP SKILLS, people skills, and communication skills- all of what is need for success in life. This organization also teaches TEAMWORK and the value of working together and giving back.

Why did you join Daisy’s Circle?

I was once the kid that needed someone to donate to provide an opportunity for me. I never knew how important that was until I became an adult and realized that I would NOT be the woman I am today without those who gave selflessly and not knowing who they would touch by their donations. I work hard EVERY DAY to show those who have help ME throughout life that I appreciate it and that their good works paid off :). Now, it is MY turn to pay it forward.

What is the best thing about monthly giving?

Monthly donations help lower costs so that more of the donation goes to the girls.

Is there anything else you would like us to know about you?

I am forever grateful to Girl Scouts and I credit this organization for all that I have accomplished in life. I never had an opportunity to dress up much as a child, but when I put on that uniform for meetings, I felt as though I was SOMEBODY! Little things mean a lot. As long as Girl Scouts are around, I will continue to support this organization.

Tell us about your connection to Girl Scouts.

From Girl Scout Brownie Troop 54 in Wyoming to the present, Girl Scouts have been a part of my life. My fondest memories are of Girl Scout Camp and Wider Opportunities in the United States, Canada, and Norway. In high school, when I moved to the Mountain Prairie council, I was the first to earn my Gold Award there in 1981. I progressed through collegiate Girl Scouting at CSU and led my first Cadette troop in the Wagon Wheel council, and moved to Chipeta where I was Steamboat’s service unit manager until my boys grew into 4H age. I took a hiatus to be in their activities and now continue as service unit manager, Daisy and Cadette leader, Gold Mentor, and former GSCO Board Member and MCC member.

Why did you join Daisy’s Circle?

As a Lifetime Girl Scout, I continue to see the value of Girl Scouts in today’s world. I want to show my continued financial support for Girl Scouts, locally and statewide. As an avid volunteer, it’s only natural to put my money where my volunteer heart beats… Girl Scouts! AND I like the opportunity to join with other like-minded folks to support a movement that is growing and helping to change the world!

Why is monthly giving important?

Monthly giving makes it easy and shows consistent support. It is easy to change the monthly giving amount if circumstances change one way or another.

Why should other people join Daisy’s Circle?

Daisy’s Circle impacts the lives of our Girl Scouts, go-getters, innovators, risk-takers, and leaders. It helps to be sure no girl is left out, that exciting programming continues, and that we ensure a future for this movement for girls!

What is the most valuable thing that Girl Scouts gives girls today?

Girl Scouts gives girls a platform for leadership, a chance to learn together, explore in a safe and adventuresome environment, and experience friendships with a sisterhood of girls and women worldwide.

Why is it important to support Girl Scouts and other youth organizations?

Girl Scouts and other youth organizations give the opportunity to learn about our world and its opportunities, pitfalls, and rising stars. It’s an investment in the future!

Is there anything else you would like us to know about you?

My Girl Scout adventures are endless and they continue to grow each year as I take on leadership of another troop or another event or another mentoring role. As an adult, it’s just as important to me as it was when I was growing up. Many lives are touched by Girl Scouts, both girls and women, and community leaders. I enjoy pulling those worlds together by exploring the world of Girl Scouts!
