Pikes Peak Region to host open house

The Pikes Peak Region of Girl Scouts of Colorado will host an open house at its office on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. The office is located at 5353 N. Union Blvd., Suite 101 in Colorado Springs. Anyone is welcome to attend, and while an RSVP is not required, it is appreciated. Please call Debbie Swanson at 719-304-8322, or contact her at debbie.swanson@gscolorado.org, to give her your reservation.

The invitation to attend has been sent to community and business leaders in the area, along with donors, alumnae, and volunteers. Guests will sample Girl Scout Cookies and learn how to find cookie booths in their area, so they can purchase cookies. They will also see a demonstration of the online cookie ordering process for those guests who are acquainted with a Girl Scout with whom an order can be placed. Other snacks and beverages will be provided.

Guests will also hear about what the Girl Scouts will be doing in the Pikes Peak Region for 2018. This will include an Outreach Program to enroll girls who come from low-resource areas, the Gold Award, and some potential fundraisers. All are invited to come and learn more about the Girl Scouts of Colorado!

Cookie Volunteers: This National “Thank You” Month, we’re lookin’ at YOU

From Girl Scouts of the USA

It’s National Thank You Month, and this year we want to shout out our amazing lead taking, logistics crushing, mountain moving, make-it-happen-no-matter-what cookie volunteers who work so hard and give so much during Girl Scout Cookie season to ensure girls’ success!

Because when you support girls as they run their very own cookie businesses (through the largest entrepreneurial program for girls in the world!), you’re playing a key role in powering unique experiences for them and their troops all year long. You’re also making it possible for them to learn essential life skills that will set them up for a lifetime of leadership, success, and adventure. Because success is the Girl Scout way, and the cookie program would not be as effective as it is without your undying passion, dedication, and hard work. That’s a fact!

So the next time you feel tired, a little overwhelmed, or even ready to quit, please know that we see you, we appreciate you, and what you’re doing for the girls in your community is meaningful and long-lasting. It is mentors like you who make sure your girls’ G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ spirit continues to shine bright—not just during cookie season but all year.

Today, no matter what your role is at Girl Scouts, take the time to celebrate everyone in our unstoppable Movement. Let the cookie volunteers, leaders, and parents you work with know:

  1. How their work makes a difference to you and the girls they serve
  2. One thing you appreciate most about their efforts during cookie season (and beyond!)
  3. One time they really helped you or one of your girls out of a bind
  4. A unique story about a girl who they might have had an extra special effect on through their mentorship during this super busy time of the Girl Scout year

Write them a thank-you note (have the girls in your troop join in on the fun too!); bring a special treat to your next troop meeting for them; or shout them out, loud and proud, on social media with #NationalThankYouMonth. Make sure to tag @girlscouts and @gscolo, and let us know your favorite way to show thanks for the Girl Scouts who make a difference in your life every day. We can’t wait to hear your best thank-yous and fill up on all that heart-warming, life-changing, bond-forming appreciation!

Happy National Thank You Month!

Smart Cookie: All the Girl Scout Cookie Program news you need this week

Welcome to the 2018 Girl Scout Cookie Program! Thanks to you, our amazing volunteers, the 2018 Girl Scout Cookie Program is ready to launch on Super Bowl Sunday. As a Troop Cookie Manager, you will receive the Smart Cookie email each week during the program. Our goal is to provide you with quick and easy tips and reminders to guide you through the Girl Scout Cookie Program. The Girl Scout Cookie Program is powered by girls – but they couldn’t do it without you!

Starting Inventory Order and pick ups
Your Starting Inventory Order has been placed and your pick-up location and time selected. Please make sure you have enough space in your vehicle to pick up your order. Check the chart on page 15 of the Troop Cookie Manager guide to see how many cases your car can hold. Review the pick-up rules: No children or pets, bring your delivery confirmation ticket, and please stay inside your vehicle. Cookie Cupboards open beginning Feb. 4- check eBudde for cupboard hours.

Go-day is Feb. 4
Remind your girls and families not to take orders before Feb. 4. Make sure you have signed permission slips for all your girls and don’t forget to use receipts for all cookie transactions. If your girls have planned My Sales booth sites make sure they’ve been approved by the Service Unit Cookie Manager at least 48 hours prior to the booth. My Sales booths, door-to-door, and digital sales run Feb. 4 through March 11. Council booth sites are Feb. 16 – March 11. All rounds of booth sign ups have been completed and any remaining booths are available for sign up through the end of the sale. If your troop cannot staff a booth site, be sure to release it in eBudde so another troop will have the chance to sell there.

Don’t forget Digital Cookie – girls can set up their site now and be ready to sell on Sunday. Families should have received a link to get started with Digital Cookie. If you did not receive that email, please contact inquiry@gscolorado.org.

Is your ‘paperwork’ in?

  • All volunteers who serve as Troop Cookie Managers must fill out a TCM agreement.
  • All troops need to submit an ACH Authorization Form if they are participating in the 2018 Cookie Program. The ACH Authorization must be submitted each year.
  • All individual Girl Scouts (girls not in a troop) must deposit any cookie money to GSCO’s Juliette CoBiz account. The Product Program Team can provide Juliette parents/guardians with deposit form.

Girl Scout Night with the Colorado Avalanche

Update as of Feb. 15, 2018: The Avalanche Marketing Team has extended the deadline for the ticket referral contest to Feb. 20. Troops still have a great opportunity to win the cookie booth at our event on March 2.

Join us for Girl Scout Night with the Colorado Avalanche on Friday, March 2, 2018! All Girl Scouts, friends, and family are invited. Cheer on the Avalanche as they take on the Minnesota Wild. The game starts at 7 p.m. and will be played at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

We have some fun new opportunities at this year’s event. Girl Scout troops can win a cookie booth at the Pepsi Center to sell cookies before the game. Troops can compete in a ticket referral contest where they share their five-digit troop number with friends and family who can share the troop number when purchasing tickets. The troop with the most referrals wins the cookie booth. Deadline for the ticket referral contest is Feb. 16, so share your troop info now for your best chance! Tickets can still be purchased after Feb. 16, but won’t count towards the ticket referral contest.

The first 80 people to purchase tickets will get a special co-branded Girl Scout beanie! The beanies are a limited-edition item that will have both the Avalanche logo and a Girl Scout logo. Once these are gone, ticket purchasers will get a co-branded cap featuring the Avalanche and Girl Scout logos. Please purchase your tickets by February 16 to receive your co-branded item.

There are other ice experiences during the game that ticket holders can win! A random drawing from all ticket holders will be held before the game and winners will be notified in advance.

Tickets are $30/person for group purchase of 10 or more people or $32/person for individual ticket purchases. Tickets are in the upper bowl of the Pepsi Center. Part of the ticket proceeds will be donated back to GSCO.

To purchase tickets, go to http://avalanche.teamkse.com/girlscouts18/.

Pajama Jam with the Denver Nuggets

Update as of February 14, 2018: The Nuggets are extending their ticket referral contest deadline to Feb. 20 by 5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased after this date, but won’t count towards the contest.

Thanks for your help!

Join us for Pajama Jam with the Denver Nuggets on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018! Cheer on the Nuggets as they take on the San Antonio Spurs and then stay for post-game activities and a sleepover at Pepsi Center. All Girl Scouts, friends, and family are invited.

Tickets are $25/person and include a ticket to the Nuggets vs. San Antonio Spurs game and a sleepover after the game at the Pepsi Center for Girl Scouts troops and families. Sleepover participants also will enjoy a midnight snack, shooting hoops on the court, a movie on Pepsi Vision, and breakfast. Participating Girl Scouts will get a special event patch. Participants not able to stay over at the sleepover are welcome to come and enjoy the game.

Troops can be a part of a ticket referral contest to win a cookie booth and fan experiences. The top three troops with the most ticket referrals will choose from one of two cookie booths onsite at the Pepsi Center after the game or a High-Five Fan Tunnel experience.

Want to join in the contest? Just share your five-digit troop number with others, and have them reference your troop number during when purchasing tickets. You will purchase your tickets first and then the Nuggets’ event staff will email you closer to the game to verify your troop referral number. The ticket referral contest deadline is February 16. Tickets can be purchased after this date, but will not count for the contest.

Purchase tickets at www.nuggetstix.com/GSPJ18. Seats are in the upper bowl area of the Pepsi Center. Tickets are available in other sections upon request by contacting Lexie Urratio at 303-405-1139 or lexie.urratio@TeamKSE.com. Please feel free to contact Lexie with any event questions you may have. We hope to see you there!
