Booth Sales at JOANN Fabric & Crafts

Girl Scouts of Colorado has heard from many of our members regarding a recent email (see above) from JOANN Fabric & Crafts, one of GSUSA’s many partners. Many of you were confused and concerned by JOANN’s statement regarding Booth Sales at local stores during the upcoming Girl Scout Cookie Program. Members of GSCO’s Product Program team have spoken with representatives of both JOANN and GSUSA to try to clear up any confusion and correct any bad information, which you may have received.

GSUSA tells GSCO that JOANN sent emails to GSCO members without clearance from GSUSA and the information in the email was incorrect. After speaking with JOANN representatives in Colorado, GSCO has decided to run booth selections for all JOANN stores as council sites. We have received a list from JOANN of locations that are participating and we will enter those in to eBudde as council sites. As with our other corporate partners (King Soopers, Safeway, Walmart, etc.), leaders, troops, and parents should not contact JOANN locations directly to arrange booths. Each location has also been instructed to not accept booth reservations from leaders, troops, or parents, but instead to look for a list from GSCO once the selection rounds wrap up at the end of January.

Questions? Contact your SUCM or a member of GSCO’s Product Program team by emailing inquiry@gscolorado.org.

Reminder: Round 1 booth selection opens at 6 pm today

Don’t forget to login to eBudde and select your troop’s council-sponsored booth site this evening at 6 p.m. Each troop will be allowed to select one site tonight, one on Jan. 15 and one on Jan. 16.  Then booth selection will shut down at 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 16, until 6 p.m. Jan. 19 when it opens for Round 2 selections.

Some changes this year:

  • Shorter booth time slots: This decision was made by the corporate offices of WalMart/Sam’s Club, King Soopers/CityMarket and Safeway. It still gives girls plenty of time to sell and will allow more girls to host booths.
  • Some King Soopers/City Market locations are not listed: Our corporate contacts are holding back a few locations that they were not yet sure about. Some locations in the following cities won’t be available during Round 1: UPDATE: King Soopers/City Market  has decided to allow booths at the  locations previously being held back. Those locations will be uploaded into eBudde and available for Round 2 sign ups on Jan. 19 (There are three King Soopers locations off the list completely because they are under construction. They are: 19711 E Smoky Hill Rd Centennial, CO 80015
1173 Bergen Pkwy Evergreen, CO 80439
1070 W Baptist Rd Colorado Springs, CO 80921.)
  • This year, after Safeway merged with Albertson’s, they decided to reduce the amount of time they allow organizations to solicit in front of their stores. They have graciously given us a two-week period during which to host booth sales. King Soopers is allowing booths for all the February dates.
  • Reminder: Troops should NOT contact these stores to ask for additional dates not offered in eBudde.

Would You Like to Buy Some Thin Mints? song catches lots of attention

Northern and Northeastern Colorado

Dani, Jadeyn, and Zoe of Troop 70586 had a blast creating a cookie song to the tune of Frozen’s “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” Singing at their booth today caught a lot of attention and many compliments!

This story was submitted using the Share Your Stories form. You can share your Girl Scout moments too.

Additional Cookie Booths open at 6 p.m.

Good Afternoon,

We want to thank one of the Girl Scouts of Colorado Board of Directors for securing an additional 24 booth slots for troops to choose from. To make the selection of these additional booths as fair as possible, we closed the booth selection today at 8:00 am and will reopen the selection process at 6:00 pm. Due to the limited number of additional booths we are asking that you select only ONE of these sites for your troop.

Sell Cookies at the Nuggets Game!

On January 31, the Denver Nuggets are hosting Pajama Jam.  Tickets to the Pajama Jam are only $22 and include:

  • Ticket to the Denver Nuggets vs. Toronto Raptors game
  • Post-Game shoot around on the Nuggets Court
  • Girl Scout Gift
  • Sleepover at the Pepsi Center
  • Midnight Snack
  • Donuts and juice in the morning

We are encouraging troops to refer people in their network to buy tickets to this game/event.  The 3 troops who refer the most people will get to sell cookies at a booth after the game (GSCO will provide the inventory, and troops will earn the troop profit from the sales).  The troops who refer the 4th and 5th most people will have the opportunity to participate in the flag presentation during the National Anthem at the game.

In order to be counted towards the troop’s referral total, the tickets must be purchased through the online link:

http://www.nuggetstix.com/14girlscouts  Although the link is for tickets to Pajama Jam, all referred purchasers should use it, even if they are only attending the game.  Tickets through this link are open to everyone (not restriction to Girl Scouts or their families).  The Nuggets will contact everyone who purchases through this link to request the number of the troop that should be credited.

All sales made by Monday, Jan. 27th, at noon will be counted towards selecting the contest winners.
