Sydney H.’s Day of Service Project

Troop 65685 participated in Girl Scouts of Colorado’s Day of Service in January 2021 with a variety of different service projects. Sydney H. hosted a bake sale to benefit St. Jude’s Hospital. She sent out an email to her neighbors explaining her project.

“I think this is super important to the American society because living in a world without cancer is important. Think about it, cancer destroys all different species and it would be nice for this to go away. One of the main reasons is we could lose the amount of deaths each year we have of this disease. In this article it states, ‘Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in American children, resulting in the death of approximately 1,800 kids each year.’ I will be doing a bake sale with two options up for grabs: snickerdoodles and chocolate chip cookies.” – Sydney H.

Sending Love to Our Seniors

For GSCO Day of Service, the Brownies and Juniors of Troop 40132 in Colorado Springs created Valentine’s Day cards for the residents of a local assisted living facility. The girls wrote uplifting messages in their cards and decorated the cards with their drawings and hearts.

Two of our Brownies delivered the cards to the assisted living facility along with some Valentine’s Day decorations for their common area.

Our girls also learned about the message of love, kindness, and equality that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. shared with the world and discussed how we were helping to spread love and kindness to our community.

Girl Scout Day of Service

Longmont

For Day of Service, I picked up trash. My mom and I went to Roosevelt Park in Longmont and we walked around the whole park and picked up trash with our grabbers. We got more than two pounds of trash! I think it’s important to pick up trash because it helps our community.

SPCA for Day of Service

Our Brownies and Daisies got together on Zoom to create dog biscuits and cat toys for the SPCA. The girls worked on their overhand knots with felt and made yummy treats for the dogs!

Park Clean-Up

For the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, we went to a park to pick up garbage. We were going to go to a local park, but decided to go to Rocky Mountain National Park instead. Unfortunately, there was snow covering the ground, so we didn’t find anything to pick up. We did find some elk though! We made sure to clean up everything except our footprints. We wanted to do our part to leave no trace.
