Wrapping Up the 2020 Fall Product Program

The Fall Product Program is coming to a close on Monday, October 26. Our Girl Scouts, their families, and volunteers have ROCKED the 2020 season!

Review the tips and reminders below to help support a successful close-out.

VOLUNTEER TIPS FOR SUPPORT AND CLOSE-OUT

GIRL REWARDS:  Girls and caregivers or TFPMs can select girl reward options in M2OS. Parents/caregivers of Girl Scouts should makes reward selections and check their shipping address is correct for the personalized patch by October 26 at 8 p.m. Troop fall product managers can adjust or make reward selections for girls in their troop by October 28 at 8 p.m.

If girls/caregivers have not selected between an item or Cookie Credits, TFPMs should choose the item. GSCO can always change it to Cookie Credits if the girl prefers. Reward orders are placed based on number of items selected; it’s usually not possible to provide an item if it was not selected.

Service unit fall product managers cannot select or edit girl rewards in M2OS, but you can send out a reminder email to TFPMs to check girl rewards before the deadline.

Be sure to pull reports, download, and/or print and save! You want to be able to refer to reports after the program close-out.

The troop and service unit M2OS guides include steps for pulling different reports:

TFPM’s

  • Make sure all girls have an address in for their Avatar patch if they earned it.
  • Download and/or print delivery tickets so you are ready when it’s time to pick up product from the SUFPM. You will find the delivery tickets report on your dashboard under “Product Management” – after GSCO places girl reward order.
  • On your dashboard under “Financials and Reporting,” you’ll find the “Banking and Payments” report, which breaks down all sales and payments received. The “Troop Summary” report will show all sales, money owed for product and troop proceeds.

SUFPM’s

  • Check the records of all troops in your service unit and send out an email blast with reminders to troops and offer your support.
  • Don’t forget to create your own Avatar patch, you’ve earned it!
  • Go to “Financials and Reporting” on your dashboard. Under the “Special Reports” tab is where you will find your troop information for products and girl rewards.
  • Download and/or print delivery tickets so you are ready to distribute sorted products when it’s time for troops to pick-up items for girl delivery. You will find delivery tickets will post on dashboards under “Product Management” – after GSCO places the girl reward order.

Important Fall Product Program Deadlines, Tips, and Reminders

Girl Scouts and troops have done an AMAZING job so far putting their business skills to work and showing their Girl Scout spirit during the 2020 Fall Product Program!

Upcoming Deadlines

  • Customers can order nut and candy items through the order card for girl delivery up until October 11 at 8 p.m.
  • October 11 at 8 p.m. is also the deadline for order card/Nut Promise orders to be entered by families or troop fall product managers. Families should submit payment for orders to troop fall product managers as well.
  • Troop fall product managers must enter any paper card orders that have not yet been entered by October 13 at 8 p.m. Contact your service unit fall product manager if you need assistance.
  • Customers can purchase nut and candy items for girl delivery through online storefronts only until October 14 at 8 p.m.

Tips for Girls and Troops

After online and in-person orders with girl delivery have ended, there are still options available for additional orders to help Girl Scouts and troops to reach their goals!

  • Magazine Store – Magazines have no shipping cost and make great holiday gifts for friends and family. There are hundreds of diverse options at reasonable prices. The troop earns 13% of magazine subscriptions!
  • Care-to-Share  has no shipping cost and goes directly to the military to show our appreciation. Troops earn $1 back in proceeds for every Care-to-Share donation.
  • Nuts and Candy – Direct Ship – Sweet and savory treats make great gifts for teachers, neighbors, friends, and family. Troops earn $1 in proceeds for every item sold.

Troops can discuss and decide how to use troop proceeds. Some options include purchasing Girl Scout uniforms, badges and Journey books, troop supplies, and other items through the GSCO Shop. Proceeds can also be used to pay for GSCO events with a per girl fee.

Cookie Credits can be applied towards paying for a GSCO camp, troop field trips or outing, and for individual girl purchases at the GSCO Shop. New this year – Girls can use their Cookie Credits to be reimbursed for the cost of their Girl Scout membership!

Reminders:

Girls earn the personalized avatar patch by sending 15 or more emails to customers through their M2 storefront and selling 15 or more items during the Fall Product Program.

  • Make sure all girls have a current address in the M2 operating system (M2OS). Their personalized avatar patch will ship directly to them as soon as they earn it!
  • Contests – check-in with girls and make sure that they have completed the Giant Sloth and Magazine contest forms. Criteria for the contests and links to the forms are on the Fall Product Program page of our website.
  • Check that girls have made reward selections before the October 28 at 8 p.m. Contact parents/caregivers and ask them to make reward selections. If you need to make reward selections for girls in your troop, always select the item instead of Cookie Credits.
  • Look for just-in-time videos – how to make reward selections and how to filter and pull reports – to post to the GSCO Facebook page and YouTube channel near the Fall Product Program close-out deadline.

I 💚 Fall Product Program: Shannon Calhoun from Denver

Fall Product Program helps girls learn and practice valuable business and life skills. On the M2 platform, girls can create their personalized avatar; customize messaging to friends, family, and other customers; and set and track their goals. Girls earn rewards and troops earn proceeds they use to fund activities, special events, projects, camp-outs, or other adventures!

GSCO has many great Girl Scout volunteers who manage the Fall Product Program at the service unit and troop level. One of those volunteers is Shannon Calhoun, a service unit fall product manager in Denver, and the mother of a Girl Scout Juliette.

Here’s what Shannon had to say about the Fall Product Program:

How long have you been a Girl Scout volunteer?

Seven Years

What do you like about the Fall Product Program?

I love the fact that the Fall Product Program is an adaptable program that is inclusive of all girls. Girl Scouts can sell in person or online or both. Customers can choose drop-off, delivery, shipping, online or print magazines and/or donate to the military. The online platform makes payment and record keeping a snap. The fact that there were very few changes to running this program during the COVID crisis attests to the fact that it is designed to be done by any girl however it works best for her.

What tips for success would you share with other volunteers who are participating for the first time?

  1. Show Girl Scouts and parents/guardians/caregivers the great rewards that they can earn. The Fall Product Program is an easy and fast way to earn money for troop activities and charitable projects. Girls can earn Cookie Credits to pay for camps and supplies, camp discounts, and also the Converse shoes that are part of the S’mores Club this year.
  2. Explain the Fall Product Program teaches important financial skills and also helps girls plan for and fund their activities.
  3. Stress how easy it is to take part for Girl Scout families. Online registration takes only a few minutes.
  4. Have parents/guardians/caregivers help their Girl Scout create a video, or make a voice recording and or add a picture to her unique website. Friends and family love knowing that the Girl Scout is involved in creating her own storefront. Sale statistics prove that girls with more personalized storefronts sell a lot.

What are your tips for supporting and communicating with TFPMs during the program?

I like to send out a weekly email with important dates that are approaching as well as any other timely information. Including links to Fall Product Program information is also helpful as all the needed resources are on the GSCO website. I make sure to include my contact info on every email and encourage them to phone, text, or email me.

What nut or candy item(s) do customers like best?

Chocolate Mint Trefoils either in the collector’s tin or in a box, Fruit Slices, Peanut Butter Monkeys, Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels, Chocolate Covered Nuts, and Cashews. I think all the products are popular by looking at what is delivered to me as the SUFPM!

What other important information or advice would you like to share?

Have your Girl Scout send out more than 15 emails as sometimes emails are bounced or have been changed. An email does not put pressure on people to purchase or put them on the spot as an in-person ‘ask’ might. You may be surprised by how generous and excited people are to support GSCO and your Girl Scout when they can browse her site on their own time.

Thank you to Shannon Calhoun, for sharing her volunteer experience!

Want to participate? You’ll find the M2OS log-in and set-up instructions, volunteer and family guides, and an order card that shows all girl rewards on the Fall Product Program page of the GSCO website. How many years have you participated in Fall Product Program?

I have participated in Fall Product Program for seven years.

Do you like creating an avatar that looks like you? Do you record a message too?

I love creating an avatar that looks like me! Although I usually don’t record a message for my avatar, it’s still very fun!

What do you like about having an online storefront? Is it easy to connect with family, friends, and other customers? Is it fun to use?

The thing that I like about having an online storefront is that I can see what my achievements are, and they are turned into little medals and trophies, and other cool things! Using this online platform, it’s very easy to send emails to friends and family, and they include the link to my entire campaign. And, I think it’s fun to use because it’s interactive, modern, and inspiring.

What tips for success would you share with girls who are participating for the first time?

A tip for other girls is that: Check your online store, so you can see how much people have bought products online, so you can have an idea of how much you have left to sell before you reach your goal. And, another tip, is that you can ask people in person that you know, but you don’t have their email and they might buy products from you.

What nut or candy item(s) do your customers like best?

The products that my customers usually buy are Dulce Daisies and Peanut Butter Monkeys.

What has your troop done with Fall Product Program troop proceeds that you’ve earned?

With the proceeds, my troop usually uses the money to buy the badges that we complete.

What’s the coolest reward that you have earned?

The coolest reward that I’ve earned is to be a part of S’mores Club. If you participate in Fall Product Program, sell 15 Nuts or Candies, send 15 emails during the program, and sell 400 packages of cookies, during cookie season, you can be a part of the S’mores Club. You will earn a personalized patch, with your avatar in it, and very cool special prizes! For this year, if you do all of the requirements for S’mores Club, you get customized Converse Shoes and a specialized S’mores Club avatar patch. That’s pretty cool for me! Good luck with your Fall Product Program!
