ZisBoomBah Cookie Quests Have Arrived

ZisBoomBah is so excited about this year’s Girl Scout Cookie Program, that they have decided to help! They have created Girl Scout Cookie Quests for Daisy, Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts. Girl will be able to help Zis learn how to sell cookies, as well as, practice what to say when a customer asks you “are your cookies nut free” or “do you have any healthy cookies?” These quests will help your girls practice talking with customers, answer customer’s questions and sell more cookies. Zis discovered a secret… the more you know, the more you sell! So check out ZisBoomBah today!

Has your troop already signed up for ZisBoomBah? All you have to do is make sure each of your girls are registered to your group and then assign them the Girl Scout Cookie Quests. If your girls have not recieved their FREE ZisBoomBah Fun Patch, this is a great way for them to earn it!

Is this your first time hearing about ZisBoomBah, or maybe you have just not signed up yet, you still can. All you need to do is email to request a group code. Once your girls complete three quests, they receive the ZisBoomBah Fun Patch for FREE!

Are you a Cadette, Senior or Ambassador? Do you want to be a part of ZisBoomBah? Well you can! We are asking for older girls and older girl troops to submit quests ideas (cookies or healthy living related) to If you submit two or more ideas as a girl or as a troop, you will receive the ZisBoomBah Fun Patch for FREE as well!

Eagle Valley SU114 Cookie Rally a big success

Submitted by Cricket Hawkins
Eagle Valley

Cadette troops 11810 and 10156 organized a fun and successful Cookie Rally for Eagle Valley Girl Scouts on January 16. The girls ran the event using Little Brownie Bakers’ Cookie Rally resources and had a local fIrefighter talk to the girls about safety. The Financial Fishing/Booth Sale station was one of the most popular activities second to the safety presentation by Firefighter Randy!

Girl Scout Cookie time in the news!

View more photos of 2013 Colorado Cookie Media Star interviews

Girl Scouts of Colorado is covering the state promoting everyone’s favorite time of the year, Girl Scout Cookie time! Here’s just a sampling of our coverage that is available online (lots more going on that’s not online too :)). More is coming in daily, so we will continue to update this list. Great job also goes to all the Girl Scouts in Colorado who are part of these efforts! Go Girl Scout Cookie time!! 🙂

And if you see any Girl Scouts of Colorado Cookie media in your area, let us know about it!

Girl Scouts of the USA has also recognized Girl Scouts of Colorado’s media work several times this cookie season!

And look for these Girl Scout Cookie billboards around the state of Colorado that we have placed (there are placements in Spanish too)! Additionally we placed some advertising (same campaign) with media outlets/information sources around the state for cookie time. It directs people to the Booth Sale Locator to find a sale.

National Girl Scout Cookie Day Patch Program

national cookie day patch

The GSCO Program Team is excited about the upcoming National Girl Scout Cookie Day on Feb. 8th, and we’ve created a National Girl Scout Cookie Day Patch Program that all girls are encouraged to participate in to get involved in this exciting day! The focus of this patch program is on the five skills girls learn from selling Girl Scout Cookies (goal-setting, decision-making, money management, people skills and business ethics). It also encourages selling activities on Friday, Feb. 8th, since there will be a lot of talk around the nation about Girl Scout Cookie time. If a girl participates, she can purchase the patch featured above in one of our council shops.

Best wishes for an exciting 2013 Girl Scout Cookie Program!

Alamosa Service Unit hosts valley wide cookie rally

by Cheryl Martinez
San Luis Valley – Alamosa

On Jan. 19, SU 301 in Alamosa hosted a valley wide cookie rally. There were 40 girls in attendance from various troops and including Daisies, Brownies and Juniors. Troop leaders and parents helped the girls at safety and goal activity stations. The girls participated in making goal clip boards, posters, learning how to describe the cookie flavors and ingredients and staying safe. After all their hard work, they enjoyed cake, punch and cookies! They all agreed that “Honey,” the cookie mascot, is the best and very cute!

GSCO Literacy Challenge accepted, join PAL now!

Submitted by Sarah Albrecht-Walter
Brighton, CO

When Jessica, a 7-year-old Brownie in Brighton, saw the announcement for the statewide Literacy challenge with Colorado Reads and GSCO, she wanted to meet the Lt. Gov!

She immediately began brain storming ideas on how she could meet each of the nine requirements. She spoke with her troop leaders and all her troop sisters and while they wanted to help her, they were not sure about the planning… So Jessica started PAL! Now they just need to meet small goals for each part and make a BIG impact!

PAL: Promote an Advanced Learner is a her Girl Scout Take Action project to Improve Literacy here in Colorado thus meeting the Challenge, AND raise awareness and learning opportunities around the world for all our WAGGGS Sisters!

Jessica sent a HitchHiker Letterbox to Ireland (see the other Blog posts about the Dathuil) and she is already receiving notes on that everyone can read from girls in Ireland who are signing and stamping her book. Her Irish partner is designing a patch for both countries. Jessica has designed a patch for Girl Scouts that join her PAL, so in addition to the Patch and 9 bars from GSCO, each Scout will also get a Patch from PAL and one from Ireland!

Our KickOff Party is Feb. 7th 2013, 4:30 at 101 N. Main St, Brighton, CO 80601, upstairs at the Elks’ Scout Meeting Room, hope to see you there with your donations, plans for the challenge and entries for the HitchHiker Letterbox Ireland is sending for us! No fee, just SWAPs maybe, a generous heart, and a literacy mindset!

Troop 53572 Hosts Cookie Rally for Brownies and Daisies

Submitted by Rebecca Lankford

Troop 53572 in Broomfield held their first cookie rally on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the Academy of Charter Schools in Westminster. The troop decided to have 10 stations to teach Girl Scout Brownies and Daisies about the different things they will need to know while selling cookies. Stations included: safety bingo, cookie songs, product info relay, goal necklace, cookie tasting, selling tips, making change, Hometown Heroes and goals and recognitions. The attendees’ troop parents and leaders were presented the cookie training in a separate room.

Troop 53572 has a high goal for cookie sales this year – they are saving for a trip to California this spring. Good luck, girls!
