Girl Scout Camp is a place for every girl to answer the call to adventure, grow in confidence, and discover the power she has to change the world! For summer 2019, your girl can hike to the top of a mountain, star in an all-camp skit, or steer a canoe. She’ll try new things, push herself, and embrace challenges.
Girl Scouts of Colorado has sessions designed for girls entering first grade through seniors in high school at both Sky High Ranch near Colorado Springs and Tomahawk Ranch southwest of Denver. Overnight camp sessions are 3 days, 6 days, or 2 weeks. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Jan. 17 on the Girl Scouts of Colorado website at girlscoutsofcolorado.org. Dozens of sessions and camps are available for summer 2019, including:
- “Lone Rangers” at Tomahawk Ranch- Girls will learn about the barnyard and have a chance to feed, groom, and love our four-legged friends. They’ll also make crafts, master a line dance or two, roast s’mores around a campfire, learn to rope, and more!
- “Oopy Goopy Science” at Sky High Ranch – Girls will learn how to launch pop and tea bag rockets, explode watermelons, and make fizzy lemonade to drink.
- “Pioneers” at Tomahawk Ranch- Older girls will take a trip back to the 1800’s! They’ll cook over a fire and make jams and pies with fresh fruit. They’ll also learn to cure their own jerky, dehydrate fruits and vegetables, make cheese, bread, and butter.
- “Camp Wondering Water” at Sky High Ranch – Older girls will learn how to survive at a primitive campsite and hone survival skills, such as water purification, orienteering, shelter building, and fire safety.
The entire summer camp schedule is posted on the Girl Scouts of Colorado website (http://www.camp.girlscoutsofcolorado.org/). Register early. Some sessions fill in just a few hours!
Girl Scouts of Colorado also offers day camp, family camp, and troop camp adventures throughout the state.
