Centennial Campfire celebration at Sky High Ranch

More than 350 Girl Scouts and Girl Scout supporters gathered on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Sky High Ranch to celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouting in Colorado at the first in a series of Centennial Campfire celebrations. Sky High Ranch is a Girl Scouts of Colorado property located in the gorgeous mountain scenery near Woodland Park. The next Centennial Campfire is planned on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Tomahawk Ranch. Additional celebrations will be April 29-30 at the Grand Junction Service Center and May 21 at Meadow Mountain Ranch near Rocky Mountain National Park.

Despite the outdoor fire ban, girls enjoyed cold s’mores by a fake fire, toured the property, drank hot chocolate, and tried painting with bubbles. A Girl Scout history display and mobile Girl Scout shop attracted attention in the main lodge.

All Girl Scouts who attended received a free, fun patch honoring 100 years of Girl Scouting in Colorado. The first Girl Scout troop in Colorado got started in 1917 in the Colorado Springs area.
